Re: Am I the only person who finds Lego CAD systems infuriating?

(...) I would agree, things like Open Office are probably technically as good or better than the MS originals. A lot of the MS development time is probably spent on designing what the products do, not just how they do it The Open Office developers (...) (19 years ago, 5-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Have a little time, want to perhaps help Katrina victims out?

(...) So many people volunteered to help with this that the load from many many simultaneous connections apparently took the New Orleans Network (where the data is being collated) DB server down, they're upgrading and said they'd be back up soonish. (...) (19 years ago, 4-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Have a little time, want to perhaps help Katrina victims out?

There are a LOT of different missing persons databases out there, making it hard to search them all if you're a relative or one of the missing, so someone came up with the idea of consolidating the info. See: (URL) for info and key in some data if (...) (19 years ago, 4-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Cancel your own post (for web users)

(...) Yeah. Meanwhile you can make the telnet method feel just a tiny bit more like that button by launching telnet from some browsers with this URL: telnet://lugnet.com:1119/ Don (19 years ago, 3-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Cancel your own post (for web users)

(...) I have only used Outlook express and Pine. With Outlook express you just select the message, then Message / Cancel Message from the menu (don't choose Edit / Delete - that just removes it from your local drive!). And wait for the confirmation (...) (19 years ago, 3-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Cancel your own post (for web users)

(...) Hey thanks ROSCO, I couldn't get it to work with IE or Mozilla. (User Interface issues, I guess). So I was forced to use the ultra-modern telnet news client. So for web posters, here's howto cancel your own lugnet post via telnet. First visit (...) (19 years ago, 2-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: My humble opinion about LDraw animation

I may very well abandon my LDraw based LDA2001 project when I... * see something that really works, and when I... * understand enough of it to make my own animations from it. (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: LDraw Animation - Why MPD?

(...) Hi Damien, The correct place for your response would be .off-topic.geek which is where I set the follow up to in the response post. I thought you were proposing to write a scripting language, but now I suspect you mean that people should use (...) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Whose angel sculpture was that?

(...) I think you've forgotten the big ones for physicists, Science and the Physical Review stable. To be honest, I've never heard of Annales de Physique, which might just mean it publishes outside my areas of interest. Tim (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, FTX)

Re: My humble opinion about LDraw animation

(...) ALthough I have no experience in this area, I have to completely agree with you here. If I wanted to make an animated film, the last thing I would want to do is script the whole thing. Maybe it was fine for games designers in days of CGA and (...) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
