Hey thanks ROSCO,

I couldn't get it to work with IE or Mozilla.  (User Interface issues,
I guess).

I have only used Outlook express and Pine. With Outlook express you just select
the message, then Message / Cancel Message from the menu (don't choose Edit /
Delete - that just removes it from your local drive!). And wait for the
confirmation email. Pine was so long ago I've forgotten exactly how I did it,
but I don't recall it being obtuse at all.

So I was forced to use the ultra-modern telnet news client.
So for web posters, here's howto cancel your own lugnet post via telnet.

Snippity explanation of telnet cancel, which I wouldn't have even thought to
try...

Now as you said, how do we get this implemented as a button on the
web page?

Well, ummm, it's on my list of things to ask for when Lugnet's future is more
certain...

ROSCO

(...) Yeah. Meanwhile you can make the telnet method feel just a tiny bit more like that button by launching telnet from some browsers with this URL: telnet://lugnet.com:1119/ Don (19 years ago, 3-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
