  Is there a standard syntax?

Hi All: I know next to zilch about programming, even in DOS, so this question is asked in ignorance and good faith. If I'm writing a .bat program to copy a file from a known, static location on the web, is there a standard format by which the (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Dave, I'm pretty sure you can't do it without an external program. If you have FTP access to the file, you can use the command-line ftp program included with most msdos versions, otherwise you will need a non-dos program, I would recommend GNU (...) (...) That works if the site is on your windows network, so you can access it as \\hostname\path\to\file... But if it's not available, I don't think it's doable... Say, if you try to copy (URL) to your local drive, I don't think it'll work. But I'd (...) (19 years ago, 30-Jun-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Doh! It looks as though, once again, you're correct. As it turns out, the old "file.bat" accessed a location on the network, rather than the internet. Darn it. Thanks for ending my wild goose chase, though. Dave! (19 years ago, 30-Jun-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
