It's time to revamp how I manage my passwords. I have a scheme now for
generating different passwords for different sites but there are just too many.
I did a little Google search:
and came up with a few ideas
generator approach:
http://www.angel.net/~nic/passwd.html (put in the site URL, and a master
password or pass phrase and get a password for that site, if you forget it you
have to regenerate using the same URL, which may be problematic if a site moves
where the login page is)
management approach:
http://www.anypassword.com/ (save the passwords away in a db which you access
via a master password. This, for example, is how Quicken works its password
vault)
What do other people do? Surely you don't all use the same password for
everything? My manual scheme (which I am not going to describe but it does
result in different passwords) is breaking down, too many sites.
