Re: OS advocacy (was: Re: Perl rules!)

(...) Celerons. And it didn't work. I'm sure there ARE 366's that will oc to 550 just fine, especially since I could buy pre-tested ones that are guaranteed to run stable, but all 5 of the ones a friend at a store tried either wouldn't post at all (...)   Re: OS advocacy (was: Re: Perl rules!)

(...) Let us know how it goes, won't you? I've heard others say the 366 can be reliably clocked to 550, but I'm skeptical right now. I do assume you're talking Mendocinos here? Jasper (25 years ago, 5-Aug-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: I'm off for a while

First off I want to wish Tore the best of luck. Family is more important than anything in this world and it is good to see that Tore is spending his time concerned with his daughter and family. Secondly, Jonathan where do you get off??? Did you read (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Hey Jasper, you there? ( Re: Government's role [Was: Re: What happened?]

Is something up with dynip.com?? I am getting mail bounces from both my mail accounts trying to mail Jasper there. Jasper Janssen wrote: <usual babble> (25 years ago, 2-Aug-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Hm. (...) Odd. Maybe it's just an interaction between CNews and Netscape, then - the servers at my ISP run Diablo on linux and <something> on Solaris, respectively. Jasper (25 years ago, 2-Aug-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  O vs WO vs AH

(...) Hey, how close is that to TWOD? (I gather that's the native-East-Coast way to pronounce it -- similar to BWOS'-tin. :) Where I grew up (Minneapolis) it's pronounced TAHD, but not quite the nasal TAAHHHD that they say in Milwaukee and Chicago.   phonetics

(...) Hmm. Y'know, you're right! -- I should've simply written MUCK. By MUHK, I was trying to get the "uh" sound. I'm no phoneticist! :) Anyway, so his last named is actually pronounced MUCK-ow, but we incorrectly pronounced it MOO-kow (or MUKE-ow), (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jul-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Geometry

(...) Reaching way, way back... Can you use the law of sines? sin A / a = sin B / b = sin C / c Seems like there's a step missing though. Perhaps the law of cosines is better: a*a + b*b + c*c = -2bc*cos(A) Solve for A? Anyhow, good luck. Don (25 years ago, 28-Jul-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
