  BTTF DeLorean render

If anyone wants to test the speed of their computer, this is the POV file to do it with: On my 933 MHz Pentium III with 384 MB of RAM using MegaPov, version 0.7, a 1280x1024, no AA render took: Time For Parse: 0 hours 0 minutes 14.0 seconds (14 (...) (...) At 200 dpi, I was able to do a 60x20" and a 48x16" plot using this method. The guy who runs the lab wanted a copy too :) Now where do I get 60" long frame parts.... --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (23 years ago, 9-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) But Kinko's isn't free! :) I'm using the Win95/98/NT driver for the HP DesignJet 750C D/A1. I finally got the plot to work by printing to file on my own machine (much faster than the machine hooked up to the plotter), with the "Use memory in (...)   Re: DPI help

Hey Bram, Sorry I didn't get into this thread before. What print driver are you using? Are you trying to spool the whole image over first, or printing while the file sends? Also, what program are you using to print from, and can you export to other (...) (23 years ago, 8-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: DPI help

(...) From some test prints, I saw that the DPI isn't going to matter very much, so I went with 250 DPI to save some rendering time. However, it's taking almost as long to print as it did to render. The image is about 200 MB (uncompressed), but the (...) (23 years ago, 8-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: DPI help

(...) All depends on your viewing distance... If it's a poster to hang on the wall, intended to be viewed at 5 feet away or more, you can easily get away with 150x150 dpi, and often 75x75 dpi. Also depends on how quick/abrupt your color changes are, (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Problems with reaching www.ldraw.org

Tim, I think it would be a Good Thing to make this a news item on the ldraw.org homepage. And then park it permanently on ldraw.org somewhere (like in an ldraw.org FAQ). It won't help people at the time they're having the problem, but they'll be (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Problems with reaching www.ldraw.org

Several people have in the last year reported problems with getting access to www.ldraw.org. The reason for this problem appears to be that the default "time-to-live" (TTL) for TCP packets is too low. I have now recieved confirmation that this is (...) (...) +AM2 +J0.5 +R3 Method one is called supersampling in the Doc's but is only half a supersample. Method 2 is much better as cells are recursivly sampled. You can change the threshold too but 0.3(default) is good. Check your Docs for more info. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
