Strip surplus white space with Perl

Hi, I'm looking into a quick and simple way to strip off all surplus white space from a string with Perl. If two consecutive characters are <SPACE> and <RET>, for example, it doesn't matter to me which one is preserved and which one is chopped off. (...)   Re: Book recommendations?

(...) Well, there's always the other Neal Stephenson stuff, if you haven't read it. And especially if you like Cryptonomicon, I highly recommend the books he's written with his uncle under the pen name "Stephen Bury". ("Cobweb" and "Interface"). (24 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Book recommendations?

Hi, I've recently read Neal Stephenson's novel "Cryptonomicon", which I found very entertaining. Are there anybody can think of any other books that I may enjoy? I'm not really into science fiction or fantasy. Fredrik (24 years ago, 28-Oct-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Goofy non-Lego request

  GIF licensing

I've heard about the GIF licensing fees and all that, but I've never been told the answers to my questions, so I hope you can help me. Actually, there's only one question: Am I breaking the law when I make GIF images? --Tobias (24 years ago, 28-Oct-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  CompuMaster seminars - any good?

I normally shy away from one or two day seminar things but someone just handed me a flyer on a 2-day seminar/class on Windows NT security and I'm wondering if anyone here has ever had any experience with classes or seminars from this company?
