Working at home today, I decided to take an early afternoon pumpkin pie
break and I turn on the TV and discovered a new Transformers cartoon
series on Fox(?).  This was pretty exciting, for Transformers, was one
of my favorite cartoon series ever.

And toy series for that matter...

So what happened?

*SIGH*

This new series has become PowerRangerfied.  Where was the plot?  Why
did Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus have to combine into a 'better' robot
to beat the Predicons?  Why do they have to 'Power-up' to win a battle?

It gets worse...wait'll you catch an episode with the trains...OY!

This series is being touted as an "alternate-universe" story line...I
shudder to imagine how badly written the Japanese stories that originally
went with this crappy animation were (though amazingly, they were probably
better than the English stories).

I see that its produced by Saban- has it changed hands?

Only for the television series...Hasbro still owns the property. Figures
that Fox would "Saban-ize" a Japanese show instead of creating something
watchable.

Sorry for the rant.

Makes you pine for Beast Wars and Beast Machines, doesn't it?

Matt
