Hi everybody,
Well, it's a dark day for lovers of tongue-in-cheek fiction:
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/front/907860
Douglas Adams, humorist, dead at 49. :( I may just have
to build some Vogon-themed .space creations in his memory.
Anyone else have my fond memories of Hitchhiker, or am I
just a weird bird?
sadly,
LFB
XFUT-> .o-t.fun, though this really isn't all that fun.

| I'll drink a pan-galactic gargleblaster in his memory. Bummer. The original radio play is the best version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Adams was fond of reworking it and representing it endlessly, but the story got invariably weaker as (...) (24 years ago, 12-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| (...) Hmm, my yellow bricks aren't used up in any other creations right now...but first I should finish the space plane (maybe the steward(esse)s will pass out lemon scented moist towelettes.) --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (24 years ago, 13-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| I met him once - what a nice (and exceedingly tall) guy It came as quite a shock from left field. He will be missed. I heard him once say that he wanted his epitath to read - "Mostly Harmless" (...) (24 years ago, 14-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| (...) No.........! I really wanted there to be a 6th book in the Hitchiker's Guide 'Trilogy'. I wish it were April 1st and this was some sick joke. He will be missed. Not even Marvin could be any sadder. (...) No, it isn't, but I don't think (...) (24 years ago, 14-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| (...) Agreed. The last two books carried the tagline "Volume *N* In The Increasingly Inaccurately Named Hitchiker's Trilogy!" I suppose they'll have to change that to "... In The No Longer Increasingly But Now Instead Permanently And (...) (24 years ago, 14-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| (...) Well Douglas, I'll be seeing you at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Save me a table with a view and order yourself a pan-galactic gargleblaster. Hopefully you will catch a glimpse of Hotblack! So long, and thanks for all the fish! (...) (24 years ago, 14-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| (...) When I saw the news it was like waking up next to a Vogon: unexpected in a horrible way. I'm glad I came up with the crew of the "Heart of Gold" a few weeks ago, I don't think I'd have the heart for it now. --DaveL (24 years ago, 15-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
