Actually, unless theres an amendment I'm not aware of, you don't have the
right to own a car.
You have the opportunity to own a car, like any property, based on their
availability and your financial capability. You can be granted the priviledge
of operating a car under certain conditions (i.e. laws), provided you prove a
certain minimum proficiency, and your priviledge can be taken away if you are
considered to be abusing it.
Otherwise, yes, cars make a great parallel to guns. And, I rather suspect
that barring large-scale conflicts, car-related incidents kill more people
than gun-related incidents. (although it would be interesting to see some per
capita comparisons)
