As always, snipped.

What if you miss? Does your shooter have enough power to force a bullet
through wall of your home? What then?

I go to the range enough that I don't often miss. But... the bullets I use
go through the body and then through the wall anyway, even if I don't miss.
I don't like to use something ineffectual.

But others do miss. Accidents happen. Small price to pay. Would you give up
automobiles because accidents happen? This is a specious argument but I
answered it anyway.

The fact is, statistics show that you
are more likely to use your gun on yourself or your family, than you are a
criminal.

These statistics turn out to be wrong. But even if true, they undermeasure
deterrence. The situations I care most about are the ones in which no
criminal is shot, but the crime is deterred. Those don't get measured as
easily. Certainly not by the stats that you refer to.

Do you keep you gun locked away from your children, or do you sleep with it
under your pillow - ready for use?

I've answered this before, I think, and not that long ago, but since it's a
chance to brag about my skills...

I keep it locked away,  but I practice unlocking it and loading it,
silently, in complete darkness. I can get it ready for use in about 40
seconds, and I'm working to improve that time. That means I don't get to
pull my piece on someone who appears at my bedside, armed. But I gladly take
that tradeoff against my children's safety since as I said, crime deterrence
is a secondary consideration for me.

Why do I want to be able to deliver deadly force? Because it's a proven
deterrent against crime. HCI "statistics" aside, the record is clear,
concealed carry states have lower crime rates (across time, and in
comparision to states with similar demos that have restrictive laws).

Do you have any basis for this?

Yes.

Or are you simply comparing very small numbers?

No. The numbers are large enough to be statistically significant.

Is it a good thing for the ~4000 under 19 years old who die each year due to
firaems? Is the chance that a "well regulated militia" will be needed worth
that waste Or is is not "waste", but just a price worth paying?

Yes.

Did you fear for your life when you were in the UK last year?

Yes. Your police are especially ineffectual and incompetent.

But then I fear for my life whenever I go on the road, which is all the
time, since I can't take my gun with me on an airplane. So I've learned to
deal with that. It's not a big fear.

But as I said, I see crime deterrence as secondary to my civic duty to be
the final check and balance to usurpation.
