Kevin,

and moral life" mean you have to be perfect?

I think we use terms like "a good and moral life" in different senses.  When
Christians say that atheists, agnostics, or people from other world
religions lead "good, moral lives," they are speaking with reference to
humanity as a whole (i.e. human moral capacities); but the standard for
moral behavior, according to Christ himself, was "Be ye perfect, even as
your Father in Heaven is perfect."  My own experience has been that
introspection and unexpected circumstances (typically circumstances
influenced by my children ;-) continually add to the awareness of flaws in
my character and my need for forgiveness.

Of course, there's also the disagreement beyond the obvious
(e.g. don't kill, lie, steal) as to what the "morals" are that you
have  to stick to... many of us don't subscribe to some of the
christian moral requirements.

Kevin

Here's what I was more interested in: would you mind elaborating on a couple
of the more prominent "Christian moral requirements" you disagree with and
why?  I've done a little studying on Christian ethics and would be
interested to see if I could shed some light on those areas of disagreement.

Thanks and take care,

Steve
