This is somewhat rambling, but here goes...

how do you figure?  i think a 25% infection rate with all offspring produced
after infection of the parent being affected would set some alarms off for
the possibility of a local extinction.  Especially if you figure that the
infection rate has and most likely will increase as time goe on.

But it doesn't HAVE to go on - all you have to do is force the damned idea through
their heads that SEX (and sharing needles) CAN KILL, so either stay monogamous, or
use condoms, or just use your own personal hands and skip the interaction with the
other sex altogether ;-).

***Handing people drugs to keep them alive longer while they continue to have
unprotected sex, furthering the disease, is Socially Irresponsible.***  I would
think this would be obvious to anyone.

Better to have them die sooner than pass it on to someone else (or many others).
Force anyone that gets the drugs to go through a full-tilt sex education course,
make them pass the info out to others, and check up on them in the future to make
sure they still "deserve" the drugs.

There, how's that for devil's advocate?

However, children born with AIDs, or people getting it through "non-standard"
transmission like blood transfusions, are obviously exempt from the "prove you
deserve it attitude" - that doesn't mean you don't force the sex/drug use education
down their throats, though.
