I'd rather people didn't say it or any other swear word here. My kids do
indeed say it, but that doesn't mean that I approve, nor does it mean
that they don't know that it's wrong, because they do. There's no need
to hurry up the growing up process any more than we need to.

I tried not to say anything and I'm going to stick to that as much as I
can. But I do feel it shows respect to try to abide by the policy. An
occasional slip up is nothing to worry about and it's best if we don't
spin up a huge discussion about it every time it happens, but I don't
see anything wrong with a gentle reminder mailed directly to the poster
(as long as it's done in a way that is respectful, that does not imply
any special authority to be reminding, and that is polite and friendly).
Perhaps packaged with a pointer to the last time a huge discussion
happened to perhaps forestall a repeat.

That said, the above adds to the problem by prolonging the discussion,
which I acknowledge

Once.  The second time, you'll probably get booted off of Lugnet, per the
posting agreement that you signed.

I doubt that -- not unless zillions of people are offended and he makes a
major repeat problem of it.

Remember, folks, most of us fell in love with Lego as kids.  Therefore, kids
visit Lugnet.  Let's keep Lugnet a kid-friendly site.

Kids don't say "ass"?  They can say "ass" on television.  I think they can
even say worse things now, but anyway...  Best to let things drop, IMHO, unless
someone is actually offended, or unless someone really really says something
that's clearly bad.  If you personally are offended by "ass," then that's a
different story.  But I don't think it's worth dragging out the T&C for
something like that otherwise.  (I'm tired -- I hope I'm making sense at this
late hour.)

Followups set to lugnet.off-topic.debate.

How about lugnet.admin.terms -- a new group specifically for addressing issues
like this.
