Probably for complex social reasons having more to do with what your
parents believed than what you have reasoned out about the way the world
works.  This is, I believe, why most party afiliation exists.

Bzzt. Wrong! No, both of my parents were registered Democrats. I looked
at what the parties stood for, looked at my religious beliefs, and
concluded the Republican party is more to what I believe in. Though I am
definitely more to the Libertarian side than to the Rockefeller side.
(For those of you in Rio Linda, that is the liberal side of the
Republican party, which I feel is an oxymoron.)

I have seen too many examples of socialism failing, and the Democratic
party seems to be the place for leftists, socialists, etc. That is why.
I could care less what my parents do, in terms of their voting record.
