Hello!

Sorry for chiming in but this topic sounds interesting. Of cóurse I didn't read
the whole thread so please ignore my post if its a repost of the contents.

And finally, what things do you mean when you refer to "all the unexplainable
things?"  I'm not actually aware of any.

How about The Life™? I can't believe that's just the result of a thunderbolt
melting some incidentally present amino acids.
If that was the truth men would be able to re-enact it in the laboratory.

...and chiming out again....

Hello Jojo:
By all means, feel free to chime in.  That's what the forum is for!

Regarding the thunderbolt & amino acids, you're referring to Miller's
experiments in the 1950's.  These experiments revealed much that was promising,
though they didn't answer all of our questions. Still, the fact that it worked
at all is a testament to the value of the theory.

Of particular importance is the fact that the experiments produced 13 of the
20 amino acids used in life[1], and in a relatively short amount of time.
Remember that the primitive Earth had billions of years to accomplish what
Miller sought to do in the space of a researcher's career!  Give the researchers
a billion years and a whole world's worth of materials and then see what they
come up with.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that people can study astronomy without
reproducing a star in the laboratory.  It is sufficient to formulate a theory
consistent with observable phenomena and to make predictions based on the
theory, even if the event itself cannot be reproduced.

Dave!
