What is that good word? Are you talking about Liberalism in general?

The good word Ive always tried to share is that of freedom. Free minds, free
markets. The problem is that neither side(1) gets it.
The Right (thats you, John, and your ilk) wants to take away my personal
*rights*.
They are busily impinging my personal freedom in the name of security. Moreover,
while claiming to want to help economic freedom, they actually want to grow
government in order to promote oligopolistic corporatism, cronyism, subsidies of
things that oughtnt be encouraged, and pet programs...
The Left (thats you, Richard, and you, Scott, and your ilk) wants to tax and
regulate me till theres nothing *left*.
They are busily impinging my economic freedom in the name of justice. Moreover,
while claiming to want to help personal freedom, they actually want to grow
government in order to promote socialistic redistribution, cronyism, subsidies
of things that oughtnt be encouraged, and pet programs...
A pox on both your houses.
The best government is the least government. Both of you losers want more
rather than less. Both the major US party candidates are tax and spend
candidates that will make government larger.
My wife plans to hold her nose and vote Kerry. Michigan IS, after all, a swing
state and she feels Bush just HAS to go even if the alternative is almost as
bad.
Myself, Ill probably still vote Libertarian.
As for preaching elsewhere... I think Id rather put my head in the sand and
build. This is about it, talktalk wise, for me these days, regardless of how
barren the ground may be. (my checkbook is still open for causes I support,
though)
1 - remember, the one dimensional spectrum presents a false dichotomy in my view

I do believe that society has a responsibility to provide basic services such as healthcare and education. Does that make (...) (20 years ago, 9-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Well, I doubt I'm in the choir to which you are referring in your subject line; you probably have me in mind when speaking about the "small conservative fringe on the right" (BTW, what does that mean, exactly?). So let me tell you about my (...) (20 years ago, 8-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
