  Re: A THREAT TO PEACE?

(...) Indeed. How can something that has never yet existed be threatened? Today, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, there is and has been more people fighting than at the height of World War II.   Re: A THREAT TO PEACE?

(...) How does one respond to this without starting a flame war... It was the Allies who 'won the war' and 'liberated Europe'. As for the rebuilding, didn't the allied nations all contribute? And wasn't it a good thing that they did? I think I may (...) (21 years ago, 11-Nov-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: A THREAT TO PEACE?

(...) Yeah, but in fairness -- until Japan came after us, the war was someone else's problem. Harvey correctly identifies our psycho foreign entanglements as THEE huge problem for the U.S. -- I certainly doubt the average U.S. citizen understands (...) (...) Thank God the British didn't feel that way. (...) Oh if wishing made it so! Iraq agression was ended in the first gulf war. What agression was there this time?   Re: A THREAT TO PEACE?

(...) The Balkans didn't make the list? Some people have short memories. Still, I suppose after several centuries of Europe creating global wars, I have hope that Europe has learned something (now if only Dubya had actually studied in his history (...)   Re: A THREAT TO PEACE?

(...) Just as those in the USA have forgotten France's role in America gaining independence? The last time I looked the liberation of Europe was a combined effort by ~12 nations. The last time I looked the USA had to be dragged into Europe. D-day (...) (21 years ago, 12-Nov-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
