federal money for sex education programmes if the classes have as their
"exclusive purpose" the promotion of abstinence.
They must make clear that sexual activity outside of marriage is harmful, both
mentally and physically. If contraception is mentioned, it must only be in the
context of its fallibility.

Sex outside of marriage is harmful? I'm a Christian and I don't believe that.
Not knowing the ramifications of having sex before marriage is harmful. So the
way to prevent harm is, what? Oh right--education. But let's not educate the
kids--let's instead force some sort of dogma into their heads so they won't know
the consequences of their actions should they consider partaking in 'hanky
panky' or even how to best protect themselves.
"Their [classes on sex ed] exclusive purpose" is to preach abstinence or they
don't get funding. I'd say this goes against the first ammendment--curtailing
free speech for those that don't 'tote the party line'. The gov't cannot make
that moral judgement--"you either talk about abstinence exclusively or you don't
get money!"

| (...) I was with you (abstinence education as the sole path is a terrifically stupid approach) till this last bit, how's this a first amendment violation again?
