Did you even read my post? The gun owners were the first group of Jews rounded up for precisely that reason.

Did those “right to bear arms” people decide to do what you think you would, and use those arms? no, they didn’t. Therefore, the arms were irrelevant at best.

Words on paper (laws) protect me less than the police do. Police do not stop crime over 99 percent of the time. They simply investigate and make arrests after the fact. You still have not addressed the main point. What do you do when the Government and Police break the “law.”

You take them to court. You take them to the highest court you can. There have been very few instances where criminal actions have not been persicuted in either the US/UK/Australia/Canada if there is sufficent evidence. (just remember the 99 guilty free to prevent 1 innocent standard of evidence too though...). Rodney King seemes to have done OK from it- as have numerous other people who have been through the justice system (David Milgard + others up here who have been in jail for crimes they didn’t commit)

The reality is that if you live in a society, you have to place trust into your society to do all it reasonably can to protect you. Do you think that you would be better off with your guns in somewhere where there were no laws but that of power? What are you going to do- shoot the building inspector when your house falls down? Blow up the water guy because the water today is mucky? Incinerate the garbage man because he is a few minutes late?

I'd provide more details but actually it's my own (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
