More or less. If I live in a society where I must be a member of a
church, or where I am discriminated against by my government because I
am not, and being a member requires tithing, then tithing is theft. I
would say that the US is not such a society, although it may have been
at one point. Or if it is, it is only a little bit so.
But while we're on the subject, consider this one: We have laws in
certain states that can require you to be a member of a union in order
to carry out certain occupations. To the extent that is a restraint of
free trade, are the union dues you have to pay to be in that union theft
or not?
