Hello Larry,

http://www.guardian.co.uk/leaders/story/0,3604,564137,00.html

Is (was?) this analysis correct? What do people think? Is today's action
likely to undermine any Taliban crumbling, or is it more of a "take out the
air defenses so the aid aircraft won't get shot down" that won't strengthen
Taliban resolve?

I think it's an interesting article but I am not sure. I am also not sure
that a Northern Alliance led government is likely to be any less barbaric.

I am equally undecided in my judgement of what is going on. ;-)

The good news is: Four weeks after 911, there has been no overreaction.
Instead, diplomatic pressure really seems to have had a significant effect.
Enough to NOT start shooting? I am not sure ... as much as I am not sure
whether the US (and British) military action can really be effective, and,
if it turns out to be, what can sensibly follow it.

Greetings

Horst
