Re: Are you being secured? (or ...TSA? no: TIA! )

(...) Well, it looks like I might have to get fingerprinted when I arrive for BF PDX, and I don't like that one bit! Not sure yet - they're still debating whether countries that have visa exemptions (incl Aus for stays less than 90 days) will also (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Are you being secured? (or ...TSA? no: TIA! )

The Transportation Security Adminstration may be misnamed... there's an "in" missing, as in "INsecurity" (URL) there's a great article in the Feb issue of Reason as well. (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Interesting article on Wal-Mart

(...) I think this says it all: "We want clean air, clear water, good living conditions, the best health care in the world--yet we aren't willing to pay for anything manufactured under those restrictions." End result: the things we buy will all end (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Freedom of Religion? (was Re: A retrospective on moral clarity)

(...) It must be great being an American Muslim and knowing that your government does not trust any of your brethren enough to offer these guys, who have not been charged with any crime, solace.   Re: Freedom of Religion? (was Re: A retrospective on moral clarity)

(...) None of the detainees have 'spiritual guidance' from their particular religions flavour--so at least there's no 'favouritism' going on--all detainees are being treated equally in this regard. Eh, there are larger fish to fry, as pointed out in (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Freedom of Religion? (was Re: A retrospective on moral clarity)

(...) (URL) Very nice.> This will prove to the world that the US isn't at war against Islam. Dave! (21 years ago, 6-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Babies who threaten to topple Israel?

(...) The Republicans in Northern Ireland are also said to be playing the waiting game. (...) I'm not sure how silly it is: + Israel’s population growth has not been internal. + The current state of affairs must be acting as a disincentive for the (...)   Re: Babies who threaten to topple Israel?

(...) This sounds remarkably like the natalist scares/forecasts of interwar Europe (and, in fact, even before WWI) that raised a cry over German fecundity that would destroy France and England; it also isn't unlike dire predictions concerning the (...)
