  Custom Greek Hoplites

Dear all, This is somewhat of a belated announcement. But in case you don't know, all of my new items (from custom beards to Greek Corinthian stuffs) are now being showcased on (URL) my website>. There are also a bunch of new, historical custom (...) (20 years ago, 20-Oct-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.build.minifigs, FTX)

Re: Mega Bloks gets Marvel License

(...) Yes indeed, this is quite a coup for MegaBloks. Previous licenses have worked pretty well for them, but they haven't really landed a big-time license until this. And LEGO's work so far with Spider-Man will be nothing but a boon. I can't help (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Mega Bloks gets Marvel License

(...) I live 20 miles from the Mega Bloks compagny in Montréal. I am not a fan of Mega Blocks but I am always curious when I see news about them. And there was a small article in "Le Journal the Montréal" today talking about this. The main idea of (...) (20 years ago, 16-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Mega Bloks gets Marvel License

I found this on www.action-figure.com and had to post it. (URL) have known about this for a while now (Becuase I have a Mega Bloks Retail Account) but it looks like LEGO has lost the Spider-man license as well. As I find out more information I will (...)   Re: Brick Century Military

(...) Do you know of a web site for Brick Century? This is the first I've heard of them. Do you have pictures of these sets? What other sets do they offer? Will you email your contact to me? I'm suprised that Dave hasen't asked you this yet! (20 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Shifty set

(...) Wow! I've seen all kinds of bootleg stuff on Ebay, but this is the first time I've heard of a removal due to copyright infringement. I can't find any other current Shifty auctions, so maybe Ebay is on the lookout for the ersatz brand. (...) It (...) (20 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.general)

  Re: Shifty set

(...) They're pretty awful alright. I've only seen a couple Shifty sets, and it looks like not only do they make mistakes on their boxes, but there's a typo in their name ;) I *thought* these were a 'China-only' brand, and even then were iffy, so (...)   Shifty set

Hi! In a local shop I noticed a Shifty set, a copy of Lego 1761: (URL) bought it, just to see what it was, and found: The box is a copy, with the right colours, and the error on the box - there are by some reason two models of this one.   Re: Brick Century Military

(...) I am not familiar with this brand... could you set me up with a link to check this stuff out. I am currently trying to get a hold of some more Oxford military sets. I have several from my time in Korea. Having recently taken them out and (...) (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Brick Century Military

I almost hate to give up my source, but I've recently been able to purchase MISB sets of Brick's Century Miltary series. This is an overseas eBay source, but I have been able to get additional sets added to my eBay order. I felt that this way I (...) (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) Now that you mention it, I seem to recall a weird residue or film on the bricks in sets I bought in 1999, but I don't think it colored my hands in any noticeable way. Maybe rather than mold, the substance was mold-release? (...) I've found (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) I'd agree with Dave! If you hate Tyco and MegaBloks, you'll hate Best-Lock even more (And again, I also have to admit I've always been impressed with the quality of the limited amount of Tyco Super-Blocks that I've been exposed to).   Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) I have the $20 Best-Lock pirate ship (the regular, not skeletal one) sitting on a shelf. The Short Review: Ain't as good as LEGO. The figs can be tossed. The cannon mountings are excreble. The bowsprit is wobbley. The half-height bricks make (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) I'm surprised that you classify Tyco as terrible, since many people regard it as the best of the clone brands. In my view, Oxford, BTR, Qubo, Byggis, and Tyco are all of excellent quality, on par with The Canonical Brand. (...) "Good" is a (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Question about quality of Best Lock...

I am in the position to pick up a full pirate ship with a lot of pieces for only $20. But, it is a Best Lock brand set, and I am very wary of incorporating an unknown clone brand in with my Legos. I know for a fact that BTR and Oxford are absolutely (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
