In my opinion the strongest “traditional” steering setup uses these parts:
I used them for my all terrain crane as below:
I estimate the axle is bearing around 2kg, and still steers perfectly well. I
ended up gluing the number 2 axle into the crankshaft sections to make the
Ackerman correction parts more robust, but this is not necessary for normal use
of the steering arms by any means.
For larger wheels I think the part used for drive/steer on the 8466 set provides
a very strong attachment point, probably the best yet IMHO. If I was building a
large scale truck I would definitely take this approach.
