Today I read "Mikrodatorn" #13, a Swedish computer magazine coming every
four weeks (http://mikrodatorn.idg.se), and found a half page about lugnet!

The author Jörgen Bergfors, technical editor at Mikrodatorn, is impressed by
lugnet.

I quote (my shortened translations, Swedish at end of message, feel free to
correct my translations):

(1) "I must say I was impressed, yes, almost shocked, by how far they have
come"

(2) "At first sight, the page doesn't look so impressing. It's when you
start to realize what you can do here, that you get really astonished."

Then he goes on and describes the set database, the scan archive
(Brickshelf), Parts ref., discussions, local groups etc. He is very
impressed by the total integration - look up a set, find the instructions,
see the inventory, look for parts at Brickbay, and so on.

(3) "Everything is not on the same server, but it is assembled into a a well
working unity."

(4) "The most remarkable thing is that this completely hobbyist-based
organisation surpasses all, to me, known commercial web organisations. I
have in fact never seen a company that has a comparable offering, with
respect to service and scope."

(5) "The only wish would be a prettier, more clear, home page. This is
obviously a gang that puts function before form. Unfortunately the reverse
seems to be true for most companies building up a web presence."

Those quotes are because AFOL are intelligent. Building all your life HAS to be benefical to the brain. Like the studies where they say kids who listen to Mozart become smarter. They seriously need to do a study about Lego and kids' intelligence. e. (22 years ago, 7-Nov-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) That's always been my feeling, but at the same time, what I expect from this group. I remember a question on the Fibblesnork survey (IIRC) which asked something along the lines of "What do you think of the Lego website?", and one of the (...) (22 years ago, 7-Nov-02, to lugnet.general)
