I had a fantastic time, and Holger and I got to spend time with some of the Master Builders, who are a really great bunch of people.

Yes, indeed. This was also my impression. But not only the Master Builders, all employees from LEGO are “a really great bunch of people.” A big big Thank You to all of them who made it possible to be there.

Neat, so did you learn any new modeling techniques from them? Did they critique your models?

..

Holger was also yabbering on in German much of the time with one of the Master Builders from Germany, so I’ll leave it to him to tell you what she said... mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. :) But she seemed excited to see his work. I also chatted with a Master Builder named Guy, who liked my LEGO city. :)

Yes, I talked to Vera (a Master Builder form the German LEGOLAND in Günzburg) quite a lot. Having in mind that we AFOLs don’t have all the pieces and colors available like the professional Master Builders she was very impressed about our MOCs. We discussed the use of the 1x2 offset plate (centered stud) and the 1x1x1 headlight birck (or what ever this great piece is named). Hmm, did we learn new modelling techniques? I suppose both, AFOLs and Master Builders modell on such a high level - nwe techniques will just come up while building. But they learnt a new word: SNOT :-))

Another Master Builder (can’t remember who) was very excited about the way I build the main *church like lookin* window of the big Venice house http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/seankenney/Events/06-2003/10.jpg

You can’t see it on the picture, but there is a nice mattern in the glass. And I just used 1x2 clear plates.

Hopefully my pics will be online soon ...

1000grüße Holger

(...) Well, they were very busy most of the time since they were the "guests of honor" at the event. (They lead some building projects with kids, spoke on stage to the press, etc. ) I got to chat with a Master Builder named Peter early in the (...)
