Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) I agree sniping is part of the game. I am not always happy about sniping but I do have a concern with the use of software that jams other bidders from bidding on an item near the close of an auction. I have had this happen on several occasions (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) :-) I don't think I quite qualify as a plodder since I probably win about half of what I bid on :-) (...) Certainly - I probably actually overbought... One of these days I'm going to run an awesome Pirate Game, but fist I have to build about (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) Frank, your such a sourpuss ;^) An alternative point-of-view placed tongue- in-cheek and you snap a response :^o I know you are a plodder. (...) Not everyone has thousands to spray around buying everything in sight. (...) Who is playing games, (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) Tough! Actually what really pushes up prices is when several people are going for the same stuff with a low patience factor. I'm sure prices of pirate ships fell once I was done buying. The guy who pops in an early low ball bid will have (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) Ugly ? Now what would you call someone who has won a bargain on ebay and then resells it on a fixed-price site for an excessive amount, now that's ugly ! There are sharks in every pool. (...) It's within the rules, and it's not some obscure (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) I've done it. Nothing to hide. It's just part of the ugliness that can be eBay. I bid over my dial-up home connection. So my response time isn't always guaranteed. I will sometimes snipe with 30, 20, or even 10 seconds to go. With the lag (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

(...) Not everyone snipes, but lots of people do, including me :^) I don't know why a lot of people get upset at sniping, it's within the rules and if you can't be present at an auction end, just get one of the automated sniping programs to work for (...)   Re: Ebay sniper? you make the call

Moved to .theory in an attempt to not upset Kevin (and because .auction is only for auction ANNOUNCEMENTS) Hey I snipe. Everyone snipes. Sniping is the game you must play on ebay. 9/10 times I must snipe to win. I have a cable (cox) ISP and can (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: Digital camera for sale

Which I suppose I ought to have posted in .b-s-t, eh? Man, i'm off to a bad start this morning. (off it goes to where it belongs) Adrian (...) (24 years ago, 12-Nov-02, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Digital camera for sale

(...) Oh, it's not nearly as exciting as you might think it is. It's simply my old digital camera, which, due to an unfortunate interaction with a concrete driveway, no longer functions when the AC power is not plugged in. It is 1 megapixel, with a (...)
