It's always a good idea to check back at least once a week at
Wal-Mart, especially during heavy clearance time. I've ignored prices
of up to 45% off so far at Wal-Mart on most sets, hoping they will
drop further. If not, I may buy them, but I'll probably let them go.
Saw 6180 Hydro Search Sub for $25 today - not a good enough deal for
me to bother with it. Also saw many copies of what I think was 2162
for $20, again not a good enough deal for me to bother.
What ticked me off today, but what might end up working to my
advantage in the long run, is that 95% of the clearance Lego items
were moved to the very top shelf (I'm talking ladder height here) of
one aisle, most of the obscured by "Clearance" signs. Kinda bothered
me because when I saw a ladder in a nearby aisle I brought it over to
climb up and get them.
I was about halfway done grabbing sets to scan when one of the
"helpful" Wal-Mart employees came up behind me and said, "would you
like me to get that for you, sir?" in a fairly ticked off tone. I
just told her no, I had carried the ladder over and was doing a good
job of getting them myself and continued to hand them down to Rachael.
Sad thing was all of them scanned in the "not yet" range, but when I
went back to put them where I got them from, something I always do,
the ladder was gone.
I've mainly got my eye on a bunch of Fright Forces, not because I like
the set, but at about $2.50 or less it becomes a good deal for parts I
want and parts I want to sell. Hoping they drop to $2.00 or less in
the next week or so, since they're all at $3.00 now.

| (...) Excellent tip... I see this in my area as well at WMs. A Target tip that new bargain-hunters might not know: always scan down the endcaps at the back end of each toy aisle. Stuff piles up there, fairly randomly, during the chaotic few weeks (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)
