They might not WANT to give them too much shelf space, as the shelves will
be empty most of the time.  They'd be better doing an endcap or 3, stacking
them deep and high, and refilling often.  Bare shelves sell less than
well-stocked ones (not meaning "you can't sell if you don't have it",
meaning that the LOOK of bare shelves makes for less sales, except during
clearance sales, of course).

Just came from the local Zany Bainy which had a nice end unit display

What was the end unit anchoring? Why, the Lego aisles of course!

Can you say "Stampede"?

Yup.  Something tells me the Target stores that seem to be so miserly
with shelf space after Christmas might just give Lego stuff half an
aisle or more once the SW sets hit.  They'd be fools not to.

*snip* to make general comment: Personally, I'm dying to see the size of the initial shipment to major retailers. Did they gamble high, or low-ball it? Insectoids, a non-licensed theme, got a pretty healthy rollout at TRU last spring. On the plus (...) (26 years ago, 21-Feb-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)
