Shell Customer Service was somewhat helpful, they were able to give me a
list of stores that reportedly had the sets although they could not tell me
when they would actually have them. Unfortunately none of the stores they
gave me were near me, the closest being about an hour away. I called a
couple of them and got the same "huh" response that you seem to have
received. I suspect that the response you are getting is due to employee
ignorance more than anything else.
Even though Shell could not tell me that the sets were available in my area,
I found them last week not to far from Raleigh. This morning on my way to
work I found them fairly close to my house (Cary, NC). There were no signs
advertising them out in front of the stations like I saw all over Northern
Virginia last weekend, simply a small poster in the window with the Ferrari,
Pit Stop, and Belville sets. Inside, the sets were sitting on a shelf with
some other random toys. No special stand for the sets like I saw in other
stores. I had stopped at this same station a couple weeks ago to ask if
they would carry the sets and was told "no, they had no plans to do so".
They have had them for about a week now. So all I can say is keep looking,
they might actually be there.
