Of course when it comes out the Millenium Falcon will have 4, looks like
they will be grey.

I can't wait for those!  I think we might even get the larger size (14x14)
and not the smaller size (10x10), if the MF's bottom is the same size as its
top...?  Have there been any 14x14 bottoms yet?

Ooh, hand't looked at the MF pictures close enough. That would be cool (I'm
not aware of any other set which used the bottoms). That would be nice, then I
could build a super size water tower...

AFAIK (and I've been looking for a while) no set has ever used
14x14 bottoms.  From looking at the MF pictures again, it looks
like they're 10x10s simply "moved apart" far enough to give the
proper outside diameter; this would explain why the supporting
interior "walls" are set 10 studs apart and not 6.  The hint of
curvature and the apparent number and position of stud recesses
also supports this theory, IMHO.  As much as I'd love 14x14
   bottoms, I can't see it happening.  :(

the picture locations, for those who don't recall, are at
   Rebelscum's Toy Fair 2000 clearinghouse:

All that said, I can't wait!  Grey saucer bottoms will be very cool.
Frank, you can still build water towers--a little brasso or a kind
nearby soul with lots of blank 10x10 saucer tops (innocent whistle)
and you're set!  Sure, you'll be a few imperial gallons short, but
hey, how much do minifigs *really* need to drink?

   best,

   Lindsay

(...) Well, I still have another set of 4 blank tops from the small stack of 6979s I bought at clearance for the electronics. Of course I may have to re-build a MF with anti-freeze tops... Of course we'll also be getting tan tops... Frank (24 years ago, 1-Apr-00, to lugnet.starwars)
