This was a return, and ZB didn't do a good enough job of checking. ZB is
an excellent place. After you calm down, call them up. I'd wager they'll
take it back if that's what you want to do. They might even reimburse
you for mileage if you're polite. Or else, call CA and tell them what
happened, they no doubt will make good the missing or damaged parts.

Do you really think a store would re-imburse for gas mileage in a situation
like this? I would be VERY impressed by such a store. I think that if one is
buying an item with a seriously damaged/obviously opened box, one should be
prepared for damaged goods. It is fair to expect the store to accept the
return and refund you if something turns out to be wrong, but if you don't
want to have to drive back, open it in the store before paying (or if they
won't do that, check it out in the parking lot).

I would expect the store however to NOT put the item back on the shelf if it
gets returned because of the condition (unless they put it out with a
special price as "damaged goods").

I have returned two things to Zainy Brainy. One was a Technic Giant Model
Set which had been opened (I kicked myself on that one, as I left the store,
I heard the waterfall noise of all the loose pieces tumbling to one end of
the box, and didn't do anything about it). The second was  a 6979
Interstellar Starfighter which one of the large saucer pieces was badly
mis-printed. Again, they took it back no problem (of course I could have
probably gotten a free replacement part from Lego, but since ZB has tons of
these in stock, and I was making a trip that way, I saved myself some
waiting for the part - one comment on the ZB 6979 special - I wonder if this
is some bargain they got from Lego on some lower quality sets, the
replacement had a moderate printing flaw also).

Just my thoughts
