It's meant an almost daily trip to Target, but my local on finally dropped
to 75% off.  I stopped at another one yesterday, just to see if they had hit
the magic number, and managed to get an opened Lego Express and several
Freight wagons for 75% off.  I figured I'd check out my local one too, but
the manager informed me it would probably occur this morning.  Sure enough,
and I got the last two Lego Express sets.  I was first in the store, and as
I was putting them in my cart, a woman looked at them and said she had come
for them as well.  Now it's on to a few more Targets to pick through other
left overs! :-)

It's getting harder and harder to find sale stuff anymore.  I guess the eBay
experience has turned a lot of people into sale buzzards.  It may also be
that the uncertain economy had a few people trying to save some money off
the clearance sales this year.  I'm not really sure why it's getting harder
other than that.
What I learned from last year is to remember what day your Target store does
their markdown.  Based on that, you can get a fairly good prediction as to
when they will drop the price and be there before anyone else.  Last year, I
followed that procedure but I got to the store shortly after lunch.  Where
they originally had 10 railway express trains on the shelf the week before,
I ended up getting only 3.  This year, I followed the same guidelines as
last year, only I got to the store when they opened Wednesday morning.  I
managed to get 5 of the large train sets out of the 7 that were on the shelf
a week prior.  It made a big difference and I can tell you that if I had
been there two hours later, I wouldn't have done nearly as well.  The
shelves were being picked over as I made my exit.  Planning is everything!
Also, it pays to find stores in communities where Lego is not such a hot
commodity.  I usually have to drive a hundred miles and more to hit the
stores with nice payoffs.  My local store never has much after the 50% markdown.
