I've gotten a damaged box (pretty severely, too), with instructions missing, of a set that should have been put on special to sell out a few years ago when it weas discontinued, for 100 instead of 115. I don't agree, mainly because I don't see S@H (or eToys for that matter) having any obligation to even try to guarantee availability of a limited supply of an item on sale to as many customers as possible. Ok, here's a thought that is probably not going to be shared by many: I think S@H should limit quantity purchases on the specials. eToys did it with their anniversary buckets and tubs, 10 each to a customer, that seems fair. One thing I do every time is try to find a damaged box, even if it's just a tear in the box or a dent or something, then ask the department manager if there's a discount on damaged boxes. If sets haven't sold after they're discontinued for 4 or 5 years is plenty of time to think about discounts, and by then they're snapped up to resell to Americans... viz. the recent rash of 8880's from my country, the (...)
