Ok, I've ended up sitting on this one a bit too long. I'm going to send it
on it's way to Canada tomorrow.

I have taken out:

All the rectangular bricks and plates in common colors (1)
1 blue 8x8 trapezoidal plate
1 small pine tree
1 1x4x2 red double airplane window
1 technic figure missing arms
1 white 1x4x3 town window w/white inserts and shutters
1 ea red, white, and green town shutters (mismatched pairs)
1 red town window insert
4 white 1x4x3 town window frames
1 red 2x2 slope w/M-Tron logo
1 grey 2x2 slope w/computer patter
1 yellow 1x2 slope
1 red door for 2x4x5 door frames
1 yellow 2x4x2 brick w/2 rounded ends
1 red 2x4x2 brick w/2 rounded ends
1 red 2x4x2 brick w/tripple rounded top
1 white 1x2 brick w/grill printing
2 green 4x4 baseplate
1 white 1x4 brick w/blue triangle printing
1 trans red 1x1 cylinder
1 white 2x4 plate with wheel wells
1 trans green, 1 trans yellow sprue
4 black tapered space engines

Gaaaahhhh!  Those parts were in the JUNK box?  MAN, they sure weren't there
when *I* got it, or you wouldn't have gotten most of them!  ;-)
(especially since I am missing ONE 1x4x2 red double airplane window from an
airplane).

What I put in

3 somewhat abused but still useable grey road plates (2)
4 dk grey insectoid legs
1 abused green 10x20 basebrick/plate (the middle style w/tubes only around
the edge)
2 new trans lt-blue 4x4 1/2 spherical domes from divers sets
1 red abused rowboat
1 abused surfboard sail (3)
1 technic figure w/o arms
1 bellville figure missing a foot
1 palm tree base which doesn't hold tight anymore
1 broken Fabuland chair
1 pirate defaced with red paint, no hands
1 headless very faded red cross torso
1 white abused surfboard
2 grey abused plates
1 white smooshed control stick base
1 blue 1x2 plate w/2 side handles - one broken
1 blue 2x2/2x2 90 degree angle, broken in two
2 black abused 1x2 plate w/verticle rod up
1 aquashark headless/handless torso
2 broken palm leaves
1 dk grey round shield w/handle broken off
1 grey 2x2 tile painted black
1 broken 2x2x2 space landing leg
1 red abused 2x4 slope
1 abused tire
1 red abused 1x2x2 classic window
1 red 1x1x2 shutter/door hanger brick, tabs broken
1 red 1x4 plate w/broken ball socket
1 black 2x4 brick w/old style axle holes, w/axle stuck in it
1 white small paddle w/broken handle

Ok, so some of it is pretty junky, but I suspect someone(s) will enjoy those
road plates.

One thing I was thinking about proposing on the junk boxes is that every 5th
person or so, there be a cleansing. Each box would have two bags, one that
new stuff is put into, one that is take out only. When the next cleanser
gets the bags, he may at his discretion dispose of anything in the
take-out-only bag, and put anything to be kept in the other bag, the now
empty bag becomes the put-in-take-out bag, and the other bag with all the
stuff in it becomes the take-out-only bag. Thus, anything which doesn't get
picked out after several visits, which a person willing to throw out LEGO
sees as not valuable, gets pitched.

An additional refinement, all basic bricks and plates get put into a third
bag. Every time a cleanser gets the box, all the useable (but discolored,
painted, or mildly abused) basic bricks and plates are removed, and if
someone has expressed an interest in abused bricks and plates, they get them
mailed to them (at their expense?).

Frank

(1) If anyone wants these, let me know, I'll be happy to mail them to you
(in the US). If someone is upset that I have taken all of these out, I'll
pop them back into Junk Box #2 when it gets here, or I'll mail them to you,
and you can re-insert them into the box.

(2) Paint, glue, and one with broken corner

(3) read about how this became abused in my post in lugnet.general on
washing warning!
