I think most of this process is faulted by two things:

1)  A lot of people take way too long to turn the boxes (recieve and send to the
next person)  Most boxes have a current hop count of 5 to 10.  This process has
been going on for just over 1 year....  Hmmm, 52 weeks in a year, 5 to 10
hops...That's 5 to 10 weeks per turn.  Bad, bad, bad.....

2)  Accountability.  We started to post input and output of the boxes, but some
people did'nt want the surprise taken away...  I even put a disk in the 1st box I
had, but people didn't use it.  I don't think it was the removal of surprise
element, I think it was just lazyness (just like number 1 above).

<now jumping on soapbox>

I  for one put a lot into the three boxes I saw , and took very little.  I also
turned boxes within 3 working days....

For those who are not fair:  if you want this to succeed, you must be fair with
your input and with your timeliness.
<now jumping off>

we don't need ratings, we need accountablility both in timing and input/output.

If you can't commit to turning a quality box within a week, then drop-out (5 hops
in a year...pleeease....)

This is a technic box.

I suppose.

I'm done with it.  I took out six pieces in red because I didn't have them in
that color and I put nine pieces in, but it's still not much.  This box is
close to valuless.  I think I could sell it on eBay if it were all brand new
for ~$20.  I considered upping the value substantially, but I've already done
that so much that I'm becoming cynical.

It has some gears and such, some steering assemblies I tossed in, a blue
air tank and some early pneumo stuff. I think I will put the really old
(red/blue/yellow) gears in it too

I think the value of just the stuff Larry mentions starting it with (and I
assume there was also technic beams, rods, pins etc also) values more than what
the current box does.  It's a shame that it has degraded so.  Does everyone out
there understand that you have a responsibility to increase the value of the
box while it's in your possession?

Thinking of that, I'm going back to add some more.  Cynicism is beaten down by
responsibility.  But I wish you folks would get with the program.

Would it be possible to start rating one another's performance?  Would that be
desireable?  If everyone posted what they were taking and adding, there would
be more accountability...

That said, I suppose I should.

I took:

4 90 deg tech rod joiners - red
2 1x6 technic plates with holes instead of studs on the ends - red

I added:

1 white 2x4 electric plate
1 white 2x8 electric plate
1 black 3.5 foot electric cord with 2x2 conductive plates on ends
4 black 1x6 technic beams
2 grey 1x6x1.3 technic sloped beams
1 three-piece steering front end assembly thingy

Sincerely,

Chris
