Would anyone here pay $500 for a MISB 7710 train?

Well would they? Someone will, 'cos that was the winning bid on eBay. I AM curious, however, if there's anyone here on Lugnet who would *actually* be prepared to if offered one at that amount?? (No I do not have one to sell.) Thanks for your (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jul-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.trains, lugnet.market.appraisal)

Although it is a pretty cool-looking train, I don't think I would spend that much for it. I spent that much on a Metroliner. I believe I've seen it go for a lot less on Ebay also. (...) Ouch. Thiat is serious cash for the train (the $500), seeing how that set does not even include a motor. I had a 107 battery set, so I could motorize my version...until I got the later 4.5V motorized set (7722) I believe my mum paid $60-80 (...) (...) I wouldn't pay more for a copy than Abner did for his. I forget what he paid exactly but it was a MINT and I do mean MINT in sealed MINT box copy... it still smelled new when he took the shrinkwrap off in front of us and the box hadn't even (...) My question would be, "How Bad do you want it and why"? Since I got back into lego I always asked myself while surfing ebay for Trains, "You've got to be kidding me they want how much for that"? I'm sure most of us with spare pieces around could (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jul-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.trains, lugnet.market.appraisal)

(...) yeah, i've heard of that sale. tis one is definitly sealed and the box is as good as it can be after thirty years in the backroom of a toyshop. the intersting thing is that i got a nearly complete 118 as well and it looks like they are the (...) (...) It was pointed out to me that I may have been a touch insensitive in this remark and I want to apologise to Abner. For some reason I had always thought he was being greenmailed, which is a situation I'd love to be in, and I've always been (...)
