Clark,
Again, thanks.  I should have a number of pictures to contribute that I
don't see on your website (including an Esso drum once I get it!).  The
dutch bricks, which sold for a lot--I was outbid at the last minute)
included "Banegard" "Falck" "Kobmand" and many others in all sorts of colors
and so on.  I have narrowed my wish list down to the following:  "KLM",
"Feuerwehr", "Karstadt", "Falck" and the italian bricks.  Oh, number 1 on my
wish list is the Lufthansa signs (were these stickers or engraved bricks?)
LMK if you see any of these for sale.  BTW, how would I get pictures to you
of bricks (I'm not that computer savvy)?
Warmest regards,
Robert

Robert,
Glad my site was interesting. Which auction had the dutch bricks? There are
several of them that aren't in my collection. Perhaps I could get a picture
from the seller.

Most of these bricks came in 'named bricks' parts packs. Several were also
included in each of the larger building sets of the time. The origins text
file in each folder has any information I've collected about the bricks. My
goal is getting pictures, any pictures, so set origins have not been a priority.

The brick you are looking for is German for fire workers, so it may have
been included in a fire station set. The best place to look for German
bricks is the German Lego website:

There are several people there that speak English. They are very helpful,
and have submitted many pictures to my collection. Tell 'em Clark sent ya;
they'll know what you are looking for ;-) My picture collection has started
many a discussion over there.

The esso drum brick shows up on Gary Istok's 10 rare parts list, Item #1:

I have only seen that part for sale once, and they made notice here:

The auction mentioned was by a European who was selling alot of vintage &
very rare pieces. If I remember, it was won by the usual deep pocket bidder
from Europe. The auction was for 2 of those drum bricks, one in better shape
than the other. The auction ended in the area of $150 for both. I would
really like a picture of that drum brick.
Email me if I may be of any further help,
Clark

Wow, Kevin, Clark,
I am stunned by the number of printed bricks out there.  Of course now I am
determined to find a few more, especially "Feuerwehr".  Any more information
you can give me on which sets the bricks originally came with or how I might
obtain others would be greatly appreciated.  Incidentally, I have the
Philips with the larger type (it took me almost two years to find!)  Oh,
BTW, I was so dissapointed about a month ago that I lost some VERY rare
Dutch bricks on Ebay.  Anyone ever heard of an "Esso drum" brick--I've been
offered one but at a very steep price.
Warmest regards,
Robert Watson
