My brother's explanation is correct. I'd just add that in Italy the small,
traditional toy shops NEVER do clearance sales. So they sometimes happen to
have some very old stuff in their stock.
Things will change in the future: the small toy shops are slowly
disappearing to advantage of large chains and hypermarkets. They're
definitely much more competitive in their price, but they just put goods on
their shelves and we'll loose that kind of special relationship with
shopkeepers who know and love what they sell.
