Hi Paul,

The large red spaceship is apparently from the game Traveler, and Wayne put
in a model of the NCC-1701 as a scale reference.

You'll have to ask him if you want to know anything further.

That's something!  I'm trying to figure out if it's Solomani
(probably not!), Zhodani, Vargr, or what...but yes, that is
most definitely Traveler-y looking.  And all that red!

Lindsay,

It is from the High Guard system, but beyond what they originally allowed. I
think they expected ships up to 1,000,000 tons with a single spinal mount.
This one is 20,000,000 with the same spinal mount mounted eight times (which
disqualifies it as a "spinal". I made it Humanni(? - sorry it's been a while
since I've read through the books - although I still have ALL my Traveller
books);). I've been refining the design for several years - as one of my non-
LEGO projects. But a few years ago (7, I think) I just needed to see what
shape it really was. The space where the (original) Enterprise is, is the
landing corridor for the launched fighters (6,000+). The holes along the sides
represent the launch tubes. The overall size is 2800m x 1200m x 500m. The
Enterprise is 280m long (1/10 the size of this thing). It is armored and
streamlined (to make it look cool - and for emergency refueling)

I used red because I needed a LOT of plates and sloped bricks and red was
easier to come by then - more difficult now. The whole thing weighs in at 35
pounds and is cross braced throughout (though still mostly hollow) for
strength. The underbelly (not shown) is grey.

The Enterprise is 16 studs long. This ship is 155+ (haven't counted it lately)
and around 4 feet.

One of these days I'll put some of my own pics up to be seen. For now I have
to rely on the generosity of people like Mark (thanks!) and others like David
Schilling (see G2K for my bridges and buildings). I'm not as (internet)
computer savvy as most of you :(
