Um.  I didn't think we had a consensus.  I thought we were still going • back
and forth between LEGOhio and BLOC.

Eh?! I thought we had already decided on LEGOhio?!
We seem to have a group supporting each name.  Personally, I favor BLOC.
Sometime back I posted a proposal for a pair of names.  Buckeye LEGO Owner's
Club and Brikwar's Legions, Ohio Chapter.

The idea was that the former would be the overall name and the latter would
refer to the BrikWars specific activities/group.

The biggest problem with LEGOhio is the possible trademark issue.  BLOC
doesn't use the LEGO name as a sub-part of the acronym and follows proper • trade
dress in the expanded form.

I don't think we could get in any legal trouble for using 'LEGOhio,' as
L.E.G.Ohio is an acronym - not "LEGO," which IS trademarked. If we got in
legal trouble for having our 'L' stand for Lego, LUGNET and everybody on it is
DOOMED!! :)

Thoughts?

Another problem with 'BLOC' (the Buckeye LEGO version) is that I am the only
person from the Buckeye Lake area - and even then, I only drive through it.

Saaay. We aren't abusing TLC's trademark on the term 'LEGO,' since we are a
non-profit organization, and not using it to sell or market any of our own
items...

Just my 2 cents.

(...) I would recommend writing to LSI in Enfield (attn: Legal Department) and asking them what they think. LEGOhio sounds to me like trademark dilution. --Todd p.s. I am not a lawyer. (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.us.oh)
