A sidelight on this whole business. The other day I happened to be
at a Walmart nearby that sometimes has real good clearances on Lego.
Well, they weren't trying to sell me anything that day, but while looking
I found on the shelf a memo, apparently from a regional manager, which
some clerk had left behind. The gist of it was that while sales of other
(non-Lego) Star Wars items have dropped way off (hence those clearance
sales), the Lego Star Wars items were still the "best-selling items in
their category" (meaning either Lego or building toys in general).
Perhaps they'll surprise me, but I think that means we won't be seeing
more of this across-the-board "Star Wars" sales -- expect clear disclaimers
excluding Lego the next time around.
P.S. You Columbus, OH people can probably skip the trip to Springfield, OH
if you were so inclined -- they said they had already honored the discount
for others and they did for me, so there's not much left. :)
