I figured I would check it out Sunday....

I am going to deliver the winnings from my last eBay auction to a vendor
there...as a matter of fact he is coming in from Sinapore for the show. I
figure if he can fly over half the planet, I can drive 5 minutes down the
road = )

I'll let you all know what I find...
I haven't heard anything about it.  What times and how much $?

as far as I know it is only Sunday may 7th from 10am to 4 pm....if that
helps = )

I think it's $5 to get in....little steep for a sci-fi garage sale, but I'll
check it out ...

I thought my last post made it....I did a report the day of th show, but a
phone call disconnected me when I hit the "post" button...I apologize for
not checking that the post made it...

OVERALL REVIEW: A WASTE OF LEGO BUILDING TIME = (

It was an interesting experience in Capitalism, but virtually NO Lego
despite advertisements to the contrary.  I was told by one vendor that he
had a 24 lb box of assorted Castle, Pirate, and Space sets which he sold in
the first 10 minutes of the show for $50 (probably the only bargain).  Other
than that story, there was ZERO Lego to be seen...not even Star Wars.

I spent 3 hours at the show trolling for hidden treasures.  The show was
dominated by Star Wars Figures, Transformers, and Hot Wheels/matchbox.
Given the poor condition of more than half the "merchandise" at the fair, my
damaged broken and excessively dirty Lego should fetch thousands.  This Toy
Fair had a flee market feel to it, not a professional flair.  Many of the
Tables were thrown together hodge-podges of toys culled from garage sales.

Apparently this show used to be more signficant, but has now been surpassed
by a larger show in Rochester NY and widespread use of the internet.  Many
of the vendors travelled from all over the Northeast for this show; I can
not speculate why they would bother.  One vendor confided to me that he
sells his best stuff on eBay, Yahoo, etc, and then brings his leftovers to
the Toy Shows.

If this crowd ever discovers the value of the little plastic bricks, I
imagine Lego would be massively overpriced...However, many "rare" sets or
elements may reappear.  One professional vendor said that he focuses on Star
Wars/sci-fi but stays away from Lego.  One of his principle reasons is the
lack of a published value guide for the "sets" and "figures".  I find this a
positive = )  Considering a Kenner MIB Boba Fett Star wars fig was priced at
$700, I doubt I could afford any truly rare Lego finds...(assuming the
vendor knew what he had)

I attended the show out of curiousity and to complete a transaction with an
AFOL who was visiting from Singapore.  My focus was Lego, so I was
disappointed by the false advertising the promoter did locally and on RTL.
The overall environment was cluttered and claustrophobic.  The ventilation
in the chosen venue was poor, inducing sweat just walking around.  There was
an odd combination of pofessional collectables vendors and retired couples
hocking their wares.

The admission was $5...Money I would rather have spent on Lego.

Thee is another one of these in Sept. at the fair Grounds, but I doubt I
will attend.  If you want to get nostalgic and look at old Fisher Price,
Star Wars, GI joe, matchbox cars, etc. this show would be a modest
diversion...If you are looking for Lego, try elsewhere.
