Hey "Y'all" (did I say that right?)

After 30(ish) years of living in/around Boston, I'm now headed South
(yes, that's with a capital 'S'!)  to be with a certain "special
someone." [fluttering eyes and staring-off dreamily..] Migration to
his turf lands me in Columbia, SC.

So! any tips for surviving the likely-to-ensue culture shock are welcome.
;-)  And any leads on cool jobs are even more welcome.

I really hope to find a bunch of others "like us" down there, as SC
is currently a big hole in the LUG map!! [1] So, if you're listening,
please write. I'll be there in December.

BTW - anyone know where the nearest SoftPro Books is..?  ;-)

Congrats on your southern migration, you won't regret it.  I have lived in
North Carolina for 13 years and can't fathom living anywhere farther north
than here.  I expect moving from Boston to Columbia will be just a tad bit
different.  It has been a while since I have been down there (Intel has a
design center in Columbia that I used to visit quite a bit) but I always
like going to the Sub Cabin for lunch!

Although not super close, it isn't a horrible drive from Columbia up to our
neck of the woods here in the Raleigh area.  We do two to three train shows
a year and are always looking for more help and contribution.  Our next show
is April 6th and 7th.  At some point we will probably venture out of the
Raleigh area to Charlotte or Greensboro as well.  The LEGO Outlet in
Dawsonville, GA is probably a reasonable trip as well!

FWIW - most of the NC discussion takes place in lugnet.loc.us.nc, few of the
sub-groups see much traffic.

Mike
