Hi there,

I've noticed that on some of my older minifigs, it is quite common for a
crack to appear in the underside of the arm thereby making the hand very
loose. I've thought of seeking out replacement arms to solve the problem
but thought I'd check to see if anyone else has had a go at repairing
broken arms. Can replacement minifig arms be purchased anywhere and how
hard is it to remove the arms from a minfig anyway?

The cracking comes from excessive dettaching/re-attaching minifig hands and
also from general use overtime (such as push minifig utentsils or weapons
into the hands).  As far as I know once an arm has cracked you cannot repair
it!  You can quite easily remove the damaged arm, here's how...

Take the minifig with the cracked arm(s), remove accessories first, and
rotate the cracked arm so it points backwards from the body.  Hold the
minifig firmly by the body with one hand and then with your other hand place
your thumb on the shoulder of the cracked arm and put your index finger
behind the inside of the arm.  Imagine your trying to flip a coin, picture
that hand position but instead of a coin there's a minifig arm jammed
between your thumb and your curled up index finger.  Make sure your point of
leverage is as close to the shoulder as possible.  Now, place pressure on
the shoulder with your thumb and try to lever the arm outwards from the
body.  It should then pop out.

To put an arm in hold the new arm the same way you would have with a cracked
one, but all you have to do is just push it with your thumb on the should
joint.

BTW, you can't buy the arms seperately....just buy the torso with the right
colored arms from Brickbay, Baylit or eBay.  Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Stephen
