I am left wondering is LEGO does not understand that the UK, GB, Scotland,
England, Northern Ireland and even Wales all have quite strange national
identities. To officially consider one country to be part on another just to
ease marketing seems to me to be a little crass.

Where is Scotland? 22nd according to FIFA rankings.

Lets face it, the average .com considers the UK to be the 51st State of the
USA. How many corporates dont have a UK web site and just point you their US
one on the basis that we speak the same (or similar) English language. Even
though they provide a French Site in French that supports the French market
(ie www.whateve.fr), or same for Germany, the www.whatever.co.uk site just
takes you to www.whatever.com.
For a long while that's what www.lego.co.uk did - just redirect you to
www.lego.com

Anyway, I notice they have changed it to UK now.

You werent proposing they had separate Scotish, Welsh, English sites were you?
UK is the only entity that really matters I would have thought as that
represents the trading area that has the same rules - like availability, and
VAT.

Nope, only that the UK should be described as the UK (it is now) not "England"
as it was a few days ago. Even though the error was corrected, I was bemused
by the response of LEGO - so I shared it.

As for Scotalnd's FIFA ranking (England is 14), we do not claim to be the best
team in the world... only the best in the UK :-)
