On Tue, 9 Mar 1999 17:06:33 GMT, Rob Doucette uttered the following
profundities...
My wife will be visiting Basildon, Essex, on business the week of 15-Mar-99.
I have requested that she purchase Lego sets while she is there,
specifically any and all Soccer sets, #5134 {Shooting Cannons w/Wheels},
#5905 {Hidden Treasure}, #5906 {Ruler of the Jungle} and technic sets such
as #8480 {Space Shuttle} if they can be located.  [She also has specific
instructions to harass the British Airways personnel until they surrender a
number of promotional in-flight Lego sets ;-) ]

Is there anyone familiar with the area that can recommend a nearby (<15km)
toy shop she can visit?  Is there a mail order service similar to the US S@H
that could deliver to her local office in Basildon?  Is there anyway around
the VST for non-EU citizens?

The address of the office she is visiting is:

Gardiners Lane South
Basildon
Essex, SS14 3HE
England

Thanks for the help, feel free to reply directly.

-Rob Doucette.
York, PA  USA

I don't know Basildon, but I do believe that she would  not be
too far away from Lakeside Thurrock, a shopping mall, which has
a TRU, and should have therein some Soccer sets.
TRU does have a UK specific website, linkable through the
main US one, (I think)and you should check it out for regional shops.
My TRU, in
Hayes, which is only about 5 minutes from Heathrow, doesn't
have shuttles, about half of the '99 sets, and about 2 dozen
soccer starter sets. It doesn't have the Adventurers sets, yet.
Accessory packs are rarely available from shops. The phone #
of Lego UK is 0345-080070. She could call and find out how
long delivery would take........
If she would be travelling from Terminal
4, back to the US on British Airways, it is theoretically
possible that I could collect one, and hand it to her at
the airport.
