Maybe that was just my experience.  I connected in Gatwick to a Duetch BA
flight.  I had a four hour layover and wanted to go to the American • Airlines
AAdmirals Club.  Since the AA club was in the other terminal and I didn't
have a valid boarding pass to leave from the other terminal,  they told me • I
couldn't go through security.  After pressing my case they finally let me
through but it took a while.

If you needed to pass security, then yes, it would be difficult.

Can you do similar things in the US then?
