Thanks for the reply, We already left Auckland and we're heading south toward the south island. We'll probably pass through Picton, Queenstown, Wanaka and god knows were else... we're planning this as we go along. If that too general for a good (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.nz)

According to the December 2001 Australian Issue of Reader's Digest, New Zealand is the cheapest place to buy, among other things, LEGO, due to their low import duties, low consumer taxes, low retail margins and weak dollar.
